* Night Tours * Beautiful Jungle Lodges *

This tour combines adventure with a thorough exploration of the natural riches of Corcovado, Costa Rica’s remotest and most impressive National Park. Such is the abundance and diversity of wildlife in this magnificent park that the unexpected is commonplace—Corcovado is the Mecca for the adventurer and wildlife enthusiast.

Our adventures on the Osa begin in the picturesque town of Puerto Jimenez with a visit to nearby lagoon to feed the caimans, followed by a sunset kayak tour of the Golfo Dulce – we sometimes see dolphins eerily illuminated by bioluminescence! Our lodging for the night is Parrot Bay Village which is beautifully situated in its own secluded bay.

The next morning, we climb aboard our 4x4 taxi for the journey to our trail head: the first crossing of the Rio Rincon. Here we don our packs and begin our hiking odyssey, 52 kilometers (35 miles) over the next five days.

Our explorations will take us across the heart of Corcovado and along its southern Pacific coastline—this last hike we do at night! Sirena Biological Station (the central station in the Park) is our base for two full days of exploration. Set in the Corcovado Plain, Sirena’s surrounding forests, swamps, and rivers teem with wildlife. It is not uncommon to see ocelots, tapirs, large herds of white-lipped peccaries, red brocket deer, sloths, and anteaters. We can expect to find monkeys (all four species found in Costa Rica) including the endangered Central American squirrel monkey. Of the 360 species of birds which inhabit the Park’ scarlet macaws, toucans, great curassows are a common sight. Bull sharks, crocodiles and caimans inhabit the tidal swamps and rivers nearby

Our final experience of Corcovado Park is an exhilarating one: we hike at night along the coastal trail south from Sirena to Carate. Jaguars and pumas patrol the beaches and forests of this trail at night!! Our destination is the Lookout Inn. Here we bask in pampered luxury by the beach or the pool, with cool drinks and excellent cuisine on hand. The Lookout Inn is the perfect venue to rounding off the last two days of our adventure on the Osa Peninsula.
