La Escuela del Bosque operates a seven-day program of adventure and discovery on the Osa Peninsula, aimed at enlightening high school students to the fascinations and vulnerabilities of tropical rainforests. Through various exploratory activities, by day and by night, and through field studies, lectures and workbooks, students complete a course of study for which they are awarded school credits.

The noble aspiration of The Institute of Ecological Field Studies, Ltd is to draw to the attention of our impressionable youth — and our future biological scientists and conservationists — the fragility and need to preserve the earth’s precious and endangered environments.

If you have a special interest or expertise in the natural world, and would like carry out field studies in the Osa, professional or otherwise, I would like to help. I know the Osa Peninsula very well, having explored most of it, and I have expertise in reptiles, amphibians, mammals, insects and aspects of rainforest ecology.
